JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACHDirected by Julia Holland Sundays at 2:00 pm Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach features a wickedly tuneful score by the Tony & Academy Award-winning team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dear Evan Hansen, La La Land, The Greatest Showman)and a curiously quirky book by Timothy Allen McDonald. Critics rave: James and the Giant Peach is a “masterpeach!” When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that results in a tremendous peach… and launches a journey of enormous proportions. Suddenly, James finds himself in the center of the gigantic peach, among human-sized insects with equally oversized personalities, but after it falls from the tree and rolls into the ocean, the group faces hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements. A magical, musical production for the whole family to enjoy! |
Non Violent Strategies to Effect Change

Saturday, March 23rd
9am – noon
Holman United Methodist Church
3320 West Adams Blvd.
Free! All are welcome! Bring a friend!
Let’s imagine… Spending a Morning with a National Treasure
I assume by this point you all know who Reverend James Lawson is. That he was the leading proponent of nonviolent protests during the Civil Rights movement. That he brought this philosophy of change to MLK. That he gives a monthly workshop in LA. It is inspiring, and delightful. Seems like something we all need to put on our calendar and get to!

Stacey Abrams narrowly lost Georgia’s gubernatorial race in November, in a race against a GOP opponent who was Georgia’s Secretary of State who engaged in outrageous voter suppression tactics. Before Election Day, his office put 53,000 voter registrations on hold, almost 70 percent of which were submitted by black voters. That is still being battled out in the courts.
Abrams, a superstar in Democratic Georgia politics, is now one of the most influential Democrats in the South. While she lost the recent election, her political career is far from over.
Abrams is a politician, lawyer and novelist who served as Minority Leader of the Georgia House of Representatives from 2011 to 2017.[1] A member of the Democratic Party, Abrams was the first black female major-party gubernatorial nominee in the history of the United States.[2]
In 1995, Abrams earned her Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (Political Science, Economics and Sociology) from Spelman College, magna cum laude. As a Harry S. Truman Scholar, Abrams studied public policy at the University of Texas at Austin‘s LBJ School of Public Affairs and earned a Master of Public Affairsdegree in 1998. In 1999, she earned a law degree from Yale Law School.[1
In her new book, Minority Leader, Stacey Abrams sets out to prove that if you’re determined to make a difference, race, age and gender wont hinder your efforts. Stacey Abrams showed the country that being an outlier or an outsider was not a deterrence in her many successes. Rather, it is her sheer force of will and confidence in her message that beats the most daunting odds. This is what she showed in her gubernatorial race, and she never wavered from her demand that our elections be fair and just.

Caltrans will host a community outreach meeting at Malibu City Hall on Tuesday, March 26 at 5:30 PM to discuss its Pedestrian Signal Project at 25653 Pacific Coast Hwy (PCH), in Malibu. The community is welcomed to learn more about the pedestrian signal and ask Caltrans representatives questions about the project. Caltrans proposes the pedestrian hybrid signal, which would only be activated when a pedestrian pushes the button, to increase safety for both pedestrians and motorists at the location near Malibu Seafood and Corral Canyon Beach where beachgoers commonly cross PCH.
