Countdown to Election Day 2024
Caltrans will host a community outreach meeting at Malibu City Hall on Tuesday, March 26 at 5:30 PM to discuss its Pedestrian Signal Project at 25653 Pacific Coast Hwy (PCH), in Malibu. The community is welcomed to learn more about the pedestrian signal and ask Caltrans representatives questions about the project. Caltrans proposes the pedestrian hybrid signal, which would only be activated when a pedestrian pushes the button, to increase safety for both pedestrians and motorists at the location near Malibu Seafood and Corral Canyon Beach where beachgoers commonly cross PCH.

Writers Bloc and the Beverly Hills Bar Association* present Preet Bharara, former US Attorney for the Southern District of New York
How do we achieve truth and justice in the courts and in our daily lives? How can we exercise our better and best judgment?
Shortly after his inauguration in 2017, President Trump fired Preet Bharara, former United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, after Bharara refused former Attorney Jeff Sessions’ request that he and 45 other US Attorneys resign. Bharara was widely known as one of the most aggressive prosecutors in the country, going after public corruption, terrorism, drug lords, financial industry crimes, organized crime and more. He was also party-blind in his prosecutions: once Chief Legal Counsel to Senator Chuck Schumer, Bharara played no political favorites; he dogged Governor Andrew Cuomo’s office and Mayor Bill de Blasio’s office for financial improprieties. Bharara’s new book, Doing Justice, examines our legal system through case histories and personal stories, how and why it really works, and asks critical ethical questions in prosecuting crimes and in dealing with daily life. Preet Bharara’s podcast, Stay Tuned with Preet, is hugely popular, attracting hundreds of thousands of listeners per episode.
Moderator to be announced shortly.

JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACHDirected by Julia Holland Sundays at 2:00 pm Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach features a wickedly tuneful score by the Tony & Academy Award-winning team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dear Evan Hansen, La La Land, The Greatest Showman)and a curiously quirky book by Timothy Allen McDonald. Critics rave: James and the Giant Peach is a “masterpeach!” When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that results in a tremendous peach… and launches a journey of enormous proportions. Suddenly, James finds himself in the center of the gigantic peach, among human-sized insects with equally oversized personalities, but after it falls from the tree and rolls into the ocean, the group faces hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements. A magical, musical production for the whole family to enjoy! |
